When you make a gift to the Annual Fund, you enable us to be flexible and fund the areas of greatest need – whether ongoing projects or those that arise throughout the year. By making a gift to the Fund you make a huge impact on projects such as:
Breaking financial barriers
Excelling in the academic life of the College should not depend upon a student’s financial situation. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to provide flexible support that helps alleviate financial pressures.
For 2024–25 academic year we are freezing rent costs at the level charged to the 2023 cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students. We can now also offer top-up residence bursaries to help students who are particularly struggling with the cost of living.
Accelerating academic achievement
We are investing in the Girton Skills Programme to equip our students with the tools and resilience they need to flourish. Whether it’s learning to write an exceptional essay or mastering the Cambridge supervision, these sessions position students from all backgrounds to get the most out of their academic studies.
Empowering students to make an impact
In 2024, we want to create more opportunities for our students to develop and thrive. We have ambitious plans to expand the Girton Skills Programme by offering internships, connecting our students with mentors and launching a student volunteering scheme.
Cultivating extra-curricular opportunities
Music, sport, the arts, and other societies enrich the Girton experience. Growing the Annual Fund means we can open up these rewarding activities to all students, whatever their financial situation. Last year the Annual Fund underpinned everything from amateur dramatics and the fitness centre, to MCR research talks and the Choir performances.
